Opportunity

Sometimes, language gets in the way of making the most of our trips

When traveling to places with unfamiliar languages, basic communication can become a major hurdle. Learning key local phrases beforehand not only simplifies daily interactions but also improves the entire travel experience.

Travelingo helps travelers practice common conversations, such as asking for directions or ordering food, by placing them in simulations of real-life scenarios

01

research and scoping

Learning a small set of essential phrases can help us navigate most of our daily interactions.

The first step was to identify what those key phrases were. Given the short timeline of this project, we stuck to secondary research to find our answers. We quickly identified some of the most common situations that travelers encounter

ideation

Using XR superpowers to learn languages
like never before

XR Superpowers is a concept introduced to us by our course mentor. It’s an idea generation technique that brings the focus on the unique capabilities of XR as a technology. It enables us, as XR designers to ideate on entirely new interaction paradigms that were not possible before.

03

prototyping

Showcasing one of the flows from the

complete experience

We quickly created a low-fidelity prototype of one of the scenarios using ShapesXR. In this a person who wishes to visit Kerala can interact with virtual avatars of auto drivers and ask to take a ride to the railway station.
